The University de Bretagne Occidentale (University Brest) is a multidisciplinary University which was founded in 1970. The main campus of the University is located in Brest, at the tip of Brittany. The University boasts of 17,300 students, 7% of whom are international students representing 90 different countries. It has a campus in Quimper. Brest Technical Institute Department is situated in the town of Morlaix.

The organizational structure of University Brest is made up of:

- Two Engineering Schools
- A School for Midwives

Research Activities
The University conducts research in areas such as Language and Literature, Human and Social science, Law-Administration-Economics. But most of its research activities are occupied with Sciences of Ocean and Coastline constitute the major research area of this University. The University is extremely proud of its forty research centers, of which two are approved by the National Institute of health and Medical Research and eleven are associated with the National Centre for Scientific Research.
Students Facilities
The students of this university are provided with different services and facilities. They have access to the computer labs, language labs and central documentation service. CLOUS provides adequate and ideal housing facility to the students.
