The Faculty of Humanities in the Universite` Lumie`re Lyon 2 at Bron was founded in 1838. Known as University Lyon 2 till 1987, Universite` Lumie`re Lyon 2 today located in 2 main campuses:
- Berges du Rhône', the University head office, situated centrally on the left bank of the Rhone
- Porte des Alpes', the teaching and research premises including the Polytechnic Institutes as well as the Sports and Cultural departments, on the south-eastern part of Lyon
Universite` Lumie`re is one of the first French university to include European higher education scheme since the beginning of the academic year 2004.
The international outlook of the University attracts about 15% of foreign students. The close association which the University maintains with foreign educational institutions leads to interchange of students, research lecturers and administrative staffs.
