The object of IUP Ingenierie des Arts de l'image et des spectacles vivants (IAISV) in France is to form graphic designers on screen and provide training to artistic directors in the structures of multi-media production or the agencies of communication developing of the multi-media one. They also help in instructing the assistant realizers on video or creative productions knowing to provide knowledge in traditional scenography.
There are three levels of recruitment for the course and they are:
- 1st year, for the students having validated the first year of Licence Arts or having followed a preparatory class, or 1st year HAD or BTS (having decided to change orientation and showing an interest for this formation)
- In the 2nd year, for the titular students of one 2nd year Licence, or having followed a preparatory class, of a D.U.T., Audio-visual or Artistic B.T.S.
- In the 3rd year, for the titular students of a concerning diploma BAC+3 the disciplines arts of the image and performing arts.

The Department has its own laboratory and out-door assignments are given to the students so that they are provided with a practical knowledge of the courses they are studying. The Library and the Media Resource Centre equip the students with the necessary information about their courses.
