Founded in 1990 by the Rennes Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ESC Rennes has, from the very beginning acquired a unique and relevant position and has grown from strength to strength. In 1994 it received accreditation by the British Open University and ESC Rennes is authorized to award Anglo-Saxon qualifications like Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts in International Business, Master in Business Administration and MPhil and PhD Degrees. In 1996 it becomes the member of the European Foundation for Management Development.

The Open University System:
ESC Rennes, because of its accreditation by the Open University of Great Britain, offers British awards like Diploma in Higher Education in Business Studies, Bachelor of Arts in International Business, Post-graduate Certificate and Post-graduate Diploma in International Business.
The Work and Study Program: This program helps the students to study and get a glimpse of the corporate world while they are working. The students are also provided with grants while they are doing internship with some companies, however admission to the internship program is subject to various criteria.
Accommodation:
Both the local and international students are provided accommodation in the Halls of Residences like Appart City, Les Estudines and Top Campus. The students are provided with comfortable and fully-furnished flats for living.
Scholarships:Scholarships are not provided to the students, however application for the study grants are offered by the French government are made through cultural service of the French Embassy of the country in which the student resides.
The school provides the students with many facilities such as for sports centre and fitness centre. A fully-equipped gymnasium and aerobics facilities are permanently available and nearby sports centers provide other sporting possibilities.
