The Western Athletic Conference, which is commonly referred to as the WAC,
was formed on 27th of July 1962. It is the sixth oldest of the 11 athletic conferences currently participating in the NCAA's Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. The Western Athletic Conference covers a broad expanse of Western USA, with member institutions located in California, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah.
The charter members of Western Athletic Conference are University of Arizona, Arizona State University, Brigham Young University, University of Mexico and University of Wyoming. The Full Members of WAC are Boise State Broncos, Frenso State Bulldogs, Idaho Vandals, Nevado Wolf Pack and Utah State Aggies. The Associate Members of Western Athletic Conference are Sacramento State Hornets, Cal State Fullerton Titans, Southern Utah Lady, Northern Arizona Lumberjacks and San Diego Toreros.
The Western Athletic Conference crowns team and individual champions in 19 sports. 8 among then meant for men and 11 for women. Baseball, basketball, cross country football, golf and tennis are some of the sports for men, which are awarded by WAC. Some of the sports for the women, which WAC honors are basketball, cross country, golf, gymnastics, tennis and volleyball. The awards are given at the end of the year to the winners.
