The Southern Conference or SoCon, as it is popularly known, is a national level athletics college, which aims at defining the league's role to build successful athletes and sports persons.
The Southern conference is the nation's fifth oldest collegiate Athletic Association of America. The Conference has a special recognition for its success in football since its establishment in 1921. The Conference currently comprises 11 members in four states throughout the Southeast and sponsors 19 varsity Sports and championships. Both men and women have a long list of choice for the league's Guidance:

Academic excellence has been a continuous tradition of the Southern Conference. The league athletes of SoCon have received prominent recognition from Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All America and district teams.19 Rhodes Scholarship winners have been selected from the Southern Conference.
The Southern Conference has been represented on the sidelines at 5 Super bowls recently. The honorary awards of Southern conference are 'Athlete of the Year', 'Germann Cup', Commissioner's Cup', 'Leadership Award', and 'Second Championship Central'.
The upcoming events have an exclusive Men and Women's Basketball Championship on 10th March, 2008. All set for the battle, South conference heads towards bagging another award.
