South Eastern Conference (SEC) is a famous college athletic conference having its headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, which operates in the southern United States. This League plays for the NCAA or National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division 1. The present commissioner of the South Eastern Conference is Michael Slive.
Established in December, 1932, SEC has moved on with 12 members including 9 teams from Alabama and individual teams of the states like Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee.
It sports Football, Baseball, Volleyball, track and Field, Swimming, Diving, Golf, Cross Country Softball, Olympic Sports and Hoops for both men and women. Football has a rich custom in South Eastern Conference with many rival members. Since 1932, SEC has won 162 team National championships. The team of men's basketball of Kentucky has gained a top priority because of its challenging records.
The Conference has got immense success in every aspect averaging more than 6 national championships per year since 1990. In addition to 6 team championships, 71 SEC students achieved individual National scholarships while 460 were honored the All America Award. The South Eastern Conference was the first one to hold a Championship game for Football and was the founder of The Bowl Championship Series.
In the 74-years history of athletic achievements and academic excellence, South Eastern Conference has made a foundation of a strong intercollegiate competition in the country.
