Bill Gates is one of the top IT people in existence. Gates is the chairman of Microsoft Corporation and the famous American entrepreneur and philanthropist. Microsoft is the leading company in software, services and solutions. According to the Forbes magazine Bill Gates has been ranked as the richest person in the world. His contribution towards the development of the personal computer has owned him the title of being one of the best known entrepreneurs in this field.
Bill Gates was born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle. He spent hid childhood in Seattle with his parents and two sisters. His father William H. Gates II was an attorney and his late mother, Mary Gates was a school teacher at the University of Washington regent. She was also the chairwoman of United Way International.
Bill Gates started his education at the private Lakeside School where he discovered his inborn talent at computing and started programming at the age of 13. Gates joined the Harvard University in 1973 and developed a version of the BASIC programming language for the MITS Altair, the first microcomputer in the same year.
By 1975 Gates started developing software for personal computers in cooperation with his childhood friend Paul Allen. They took leave from the University and started working at MITS, under their partnership programme which they named as “ Micro-soft ”. Within a year by 1976 “ Microsoft ” became a well known company and was registered with the USPTO.
