Narayan Murthy borrowed Rs.10,000 from his wife Sudha Murthy and initially established Infosys Consultants Pvt Ltd with its first registered office situated along the north-central Mumbai. In 1987, Data Basics Corporation from the United States was the first foreign client that Infosys received.
Awards and Recognition:
It was in 1999 that Infosys was recognized with SEI-CMM Level 5 ranking and was the first Indian company to be on the NASDAQ list. In 2001, Infosys received the recognition of "Best Employer in India" by Business Today.
In 2002, Infosys became the "India's Most Respected Company” as stated by Business World. Infosys was awarded with the honor of Global MAKE (Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises).
