Robotics deals with the technology of robots, their designing, manufacturing and their application in the modern world. Any research related to robotics is considered as one of the most important scientific advancement in Research areas in Computer Science . The roboticists, who are the people involved in the science of robotics, strive to introduce new technologies to the world of computer science.
Structure of Robots
Robots are controlled mechanical and movable structures and are known as kinematic chain, following the functioning of the human body. The chain forms with the help of links, playing the part of bones while actuators play the part of muscles and joints. Basically robotics deals with advancing the technology involved with robots so that they become more and more suitable to perform the tasks given to them.
There are three phases in this process of controlled task achiever, which includes perception, processing and action. They are also called the robot paradigms. There are sensors embedded within the robots which give them information regarding their environment. The robots are programmed to do certain tasks and this is known as the control strategies.
The motion of the robot is very important for performing the task and this motion can be divided into kinematics and dynamics.
Types of Robots
Serial Robots: These are the robots using the open serial chain.
Stewart Platform: In this case the closed parallel kinematic chain is used.
The Research in Robotics deals with the development of the various types of robots and making them as far as possible resemble their human counterpart. Research in this field like the Biomechanics, is a very common subject among the students of computer science.
