History of Internet provides with a brief description of the entire path thorough which Internet has evolved. The History of Internet can be traced back to 1960's when J.C.R. Licklider first came up with the idea of establishing a universal network of communication by the mean of computers in 1962. Real Purpose Internet was invented primarily to benefit the exchange of vital information amongst the computer researches of different Universities. One more reason behind the discovery of Internet was that it was expected to function as secured medium of communication. This was so because internet could even survive and work during a nuclear attack. Arpanet
According to the History of Internet , Internet was initially known as ARPANET which was developed by concept of Robert Taylor. The very first Arpanet connection became operational in University of California in 1969. This first Arpanet Network connected the computers of four Universities which were UCLA, Stanford Research Institute, UCSB and the University of Utah. This was the very first time that internet was put to practical use. It was within Arpanet itself and not Internet that the E-mail was included for the first time. Transition to Internet The term Internet replaced Arpanet in 1974 which was given a formal approval in the Internet Transmission Control Protocol. The term gain instant popularity. Internet began to be used as a global communicating network which began to grow from 1970 onwards.
