Software Testing is a series of processes that enables the assessing of the correctness of the codes that have made up the software application. Apart from the correctness of the application developed, Software Testing also looks into numerous other necessary and required factors.

Introduction:

Software Testing is the last and the most crucial feature of the Software Development Life Cycle. Software Testing can also be called ‘technical investigation’. Software Testing or testing, as it is colloquially called is an investigation process in the field of software which analyses the correctness of the codes that make up the software application. It is responsible for deriving basic information of the application via a process of testing.

Apart from the basic testing of the correctness of the software application, Software Testing also performs certain other simultaneous tasks. Some of the most important ones include the completeness of the application, the security level of the software application and of course the quality of the application.

These features, however, are not the only ones to be importance in the process. There are more important factors that the process of Software testing analyses. Some of the other important qualities carried out by the testing process are summing up an analysis of the capability of the application, its reliability and efficiency. It also determines how portable it is. The maintainability factor and the compatibility of the developed software are of importance too. Finally the usability factor of the software application is of utmost importance.

There are several levels in Software Testing. They are listed below:

  • Unit Testing
  • Integration Testing
  • System Testing
