Mouse

A mouse is a computer hardware component which is used for controlling the way in which a pointer or cursor moves on the display screen of a monitor .

Mouse Information:

•  A mouse is quite a small article which can be rolled on a surface that is plane and firm.

•  The name mouse comes from the fact that the it resembles the rodent mouse in shape. The wire that is attached to one end of the mouse can be taken as the tail. In fact the movement of the mouse is also like the scurrying kind of the original one.

•  On moving the mouse , the cursor on the screen of the monitor moves simultaneously to reach the desired point.

•  A mouse can have 1 or 3 buttons and their functions vary with the different programs.

•  The latest mouse also has a scroll wheel.

Types of Mouse:

Three kinds of mouse are generally available:

•  Mechanical mouse : It has either a metallic or rubber ball beneath it, to facilitate multi-directional movement. There are sensors which can find out the directional of the movement of the ball and in turn guide the intended movement of the cursor.

•  Optomechanical Mouse : It is similar to the above mentioned type of mouse . The only difference is that optical sensors are used instead of the mechanical ones.

•  Optical Mouse : This sort of mouse uses laser technology to find the motion of the mouse . This is expensive but the responses are very accurate and of high-speed.

A mouse is a useful input device of computer hardware and nowadays even cordless mice are available.
