Monitor

Monitor is that part of the computer hardware which is used as an output device. It is also known as a computer display monitor .

Components of a Monitor:

Monitor is also used extensively for the purposes of television broadcasting. As a device of computer display a monitor is sometimes in the form of cathode ray tube or as flat panel like TFT LCD display. The various components of a monitor are:

• A display device.

• A circuitry, which has the property of producing pictures from the electronic signals which are given by the computer.

• A case or an enclosure.

The Criteria for Monitor Performance:

• Low dot pitch : It points out the gaps between the sub-pixels, inside the display screen.

• Luminance : It marks the quantity of light that comes out from or goes through a certain area and it falls at a given angle. It indicates how bright a surface is going to be.

• Size : It indicates how big or small the monitor is.

• Response time : It is the time taken by a pixel to change from black to white and vice versa.

• Refresh Rate : It is the total number of times an illumination is displayed in one second.

• V-Sync or Vertical Synchronization Rate : It is way in which an event is harmonized with vertical blanking interval.

Monitor is an electrical device which can exhibit the computer generated images. These images can just be viewed and do not get stored as records.
