Ssang Yong was founded in 1954 and has captured the imagination of the customers for the last five decades. Although it was apt in making commercial vehicles such as trucks, buses, special purpose vehicles initially, in 1986 with the acquisition of Keohwa Motors, it shifted tracks and concentrated on jeeps. The 1990s saw a major change in the company when Mercedes Benz AG made capital investments and established a strategic alliance. The company is very carefully spreading its business ventures with quality products and the specialization remains the SUVs or the Sports Utility Vehicles. The car was first launched in 2006 and successfully replaced the SsangYoung Musso. It is a compact SUV which bears semblance to Pontiac Aztek and Subaru Baja. There are actually two cars under the tag Ssang Yong Actyon—the Coupe Sports and the Sports Utility Truck. | |
