Medium SUVs

Known in some countries as the off-road vehicle or the four-wheel drive, the SUV has successfully combined the towing capability of the pick-up truck and the seating space of a minivan or a station wagon under the same umbrella. The SUV or the Sports Utility Vehicle is equipped with an engine compartment, cargo storage space along with a not-so-impressive trunk. It mainly comes under the cross-over section. This type of cross-over SUV is known for the lighter weight and less fuel consumption. The cars can generally provide seating arrangements for 5-7 people and has high engine capacity.

Now a rage among the urban buyers, the Sports Utility Vehicle is the worthy successor of commercial and military vehicles such as Jeep and Land Rover. Although they were favorites because of their off-road capacity, now the SUVs are known for their luxurious interiors and stylish bodies. These cars are especially popular among the buyers in United Sates, Canada and Australia. The SUVs can also be used on limited paved roads. They are specially designed to cope with the all-terrain paths.

Some of the most frequently used names of the SUVs are four—wheel drives or just jeeps. In southern England on the other hand, they are often called “soft roaders” or “Chelsea tractors” because of their popularity among the rich and affluent people. Apart from the medium SUVs, there is also another version known as the medium cross-over SUVs.
