Introduction The Mondial Automobile of 1998 saw the emergence of Citroen’s new concept car, the Citroen C3. Since 2002, the supermini produced by the French automobile company Citroen has captured the hearts of millions. It was designed by Donato Coco and Jean-Pierre Ploue, previously known for designing the Renault Twingo. The former has been the head of the Citroen design team since 1999. It is basically a two-door convertible with a five-door hatchback. With this car the future of compact vehicle has moved a zillion times ahead. Number of Cylinders: Four
Cubic Capacity: 1 587 cm3

Engines: Citroen C3 is one of the first of its type to be powered by 1.4 HDi 16V Engine, developed through the cooperation and agreement between PSA Peugeot Citroen and Ford. Equipped with second-generation common-rail injection technology, a variable geometry turbocharger (multivalve technology) and an air-to-air intercooler, this new engine is by far the most scientific and the most improved of the lot. The compact dimensions of the engine made it possible to modify the layout of parts underneath the bonnet with a view to increasing passenger protection. All the moving parts (such as the crankshaft, rods and pistons) have been optimized with a view to reducing size and weight. The diameter of the valve stems, for example, is 5.5 mm. The Citroen C3 Senso Drive Gearbox is specially designed to avoid accidents on road. In automatic mode, the driver need not be bothered about gear change and the automatic mode maximizes the gear shift management.
Mileage on-road: The C3 1.4i CNG is easy to use. It runs primarily on Citroen Natural Gas. With a total gas tank capacity of 14 m3 (or 11.2 kg), the vehicle gains additional range of around 200 km, for a total of more than 700 km. The engine switches automatically to petrol mode when the gas tank is empty. The petrol tank maintains a capacity of 47 litres. Practical and ecological, the C3 1.4i CNG is also economical to run, since natural gas costs significantly less than conventional fuels.
Fuel Consumption: For urban roads the total fuel consumption is 7-8 litres, 3-5 litres for extra urban roads and 6-7 litres for combined roads. All these calculation is done on a 100 km basis.
Stop and Start System in Citroen C3: Stopping and starting a vehicle is now in the fingertips of the driver and this does not involve any excess fuel consumption. On normal roads there is a savings of 10% of fuel, while in major cities the passengers can save up to 35% fuel of the total driving time. If traffic is heavy the fuel consumption can be saved up to 15%. With the reliable architecture and easily understandable technology Citroen C3 has successfully captured the hearts of millions all over the world.
