the sedan version of a small family car, was introduced into the market in the year 2000 by the Malaysian carmaker, Proton.'Waja' was incorporated into the name 'Proton Waja' to overcome the general image of Proton cars as being less potent. The car bears the popular moniker of Proton Impian in the United Kingdom.

The Proton Waja, operates on a smart fuel injection technology and can attain a speed of 190 km/h. A state-of-the-art grille has been added to the Waja that resembles the grille used in the Proton Savvy.
The Chancellor version of the Proton Waja uses the Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) 24-valve V6 engine which contributes to the generation of approximately 150 hp @ 6750 rpm and a torque of approximately 180 N-m @ 4000 rpm. This too operates on a smart fuel injection technology and can attain a speed of 205 km/h.
