Proton Waja or New Proton Wajathe sedan version of a small family car, was introduced into the market in the year 2000 by the Malaysian carmaker, Proton. The car design and structure largely emulated those of the Mitusbishi Carisma. 'Waja' signifies strength as found in steel. 'Waja' was incorporated into the name 'Proton Waja' to overcome the general image of Proton cars as being less potent. The Chancellor version of the Proton Waja uses the Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) 24-valve V6 engine which contributes to the generation of approximately 150 hp @ 6750 rpm and a torque of approximately 180 N-m @ 4000 rpm. This too operates on a smart fuel injection technology and can attain a speed of 205 km/h.
The price of the car varies from approximately £11,000 to £12,000 according to its model and version.
