The American food production and distribution company, Del Monte Foods or DLM has its headquarters established in San Francisco in the State of California. Del Monte Foods offers canned and packaged food items under the brand name of Del Monte, S&W and Contadina. Del Monte Foods offer healthy cat food items to hearty dog snacks, from delicious tuna fillets to refreshing fruit snacks, from healthy children snacks to canned tinned diets.
Del Monte Foods packages pet foods under brands like Kibbles n' Bits, 9Lives, Pounce, Milk-Bone and Pup-Peroni Ribs. Del Monte Foods offers c anned products for kids and adults under the packaging of StarKist Tuna Fillets, Del Monte Fruit Naturals Snacks and Del Monte Green Beans, Peas and Corn products. Sesame Street's Elmo, Grover and Cookie Monster have collaborated with Del Monte Foods with an intention to encourage healthy food habits among children and kids.
During the 1870s and '80s, California produced fruits and vegetables in great quantity and merged with the State's biggest canners under the brand of California Fruit Canners Association which got converted to California Packing Corporation or Calpak. California Packing Corporation promoted its products under the Del Monte brand. With time it had almost 60 canneries spread in places like Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Alaska. In 1967, the name was modified to Del Monte Corporation. Later on, the food processing divisions, called as Del Monte Foods was sold by RJR Nabisco to private investors in 1989.
Today Del Monte Foods products have several brand licensees like the Kraft Foods that deal with the juice drinks department in Canada, CanGro deals with canned goods and Nestlé holds the frozen treats in that country. The owner of Del Monte Asia is Kikkoman Corporation.
