It was Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard of Stanford University who came up with the idea of setting up this company. With an initial establishment at a garage in near Palo Alto, their partnership was officially dignified on January 1, 1939 with a venture of US$538. It was Dave who gave the name to their electronics-manufacturing project – “Hewlett Packard Company". So it was in August 8, 1947 when Hewlett Packard was integrated and started being recognized from November 6, 1957.
The HP brand came up with a product initially which was called precision audio oscillator, the Model 200A. A small light bulb was used as a temperature dependent resistor within the circuit. It was one of the best selling basic electronic design till date the company boasts of.
The Walt Disney Company was its prime and first customer who purchased almost eight Model 200B oscillators for confirming the Fantasound surround sound systems in theaters, especially for the film named Fantasia.
The company mainly deals with signal generators, counters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes and other test equipment.
