With more technological advancements, the utility of IPods is increasing and apart from listening to music in the IPod, one can also listen to IPod audio-books. The IPod, designed and commercialized by Apple is actually a particular brand of portable media that was launched in the year 2001. These IPods are available in three forms - the smaller IPod nano, the video-capable fifth generation IPod and the less-display IPod shuffle.
In the general IPod model, media is stored on a hard drive while in the IPod shuffle and the IPod nano, flash memory is used. The IPods can also act as the external data storage devices like other digital music players.
Besides listening to music in the IPod, one can also listen to audio-books and other aural or verbal content while jogging, working or even commuting. Audio books are either abridged or full recordings of books. The content of a book is generally read out loudly and then recorded. Sometimes the author may himself read his book aloud and record his voice in the audio book. Examples of such audio books are- My Life by Bill Clinton and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Renowned actors or professional readers with immaculate accent can also read aloud the books and get their voice recorded.
The audio books can be bought in various ways. One can buy them either from local bookstores (on CD or cassette) or from online resources and websites. If the audio books are bought on CD, they have to be imported into iTunes. With the help of these iTunes, one can listen to the audio books on the IPod like other digital audios.
