INTERNATIONAL BOOK AWARDS

International Book Awards recognize preeminent writing dexterity from all over the world. International Book Awards accolades authors from any country of the world belonging to any race, caste or creed.

International Book Awards comprises an array of awards that have been encouraging and honoring the best writing cultures of the world. The major awards include:

  • The International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award is the prevalent and most global honor of its kind. The award is open to books written in any language. The Award was a proposal of Dublin City Council and the giving of the award commenced in 1994 by Dublin City; Civic Charter . The Award is directed by Dublin City Public Libraries. The International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award is awarded annually and the winner is selected by an international panel of judges which changes each year. The winner of 2006 award is Toibin, Colm for the book ‘The Master'.
  • Kiriyama Pacific Rim Book Prize

The award was established in 1996 and was co-sponsored by the Kiriyama Pacific Rim Book Foundation and the Center for the Pacific Rim at the University of San Francisco. The creations must be published in English or translated into English.  The prize is categorized into fiction and non-fiction categories. The author and the publisher both get equal amount of the monetary prize received. The 2006 winner of the Award is Urrea, Luis Roberto for the book ‘The Hummingbird's Daughter'.

  • Common Wealth Writers' Prize

The award was initiated in 1987 and is awarded by the Commonwealth Foundation in association with the Book Trust and the Royal Over-Seas League. The award goes to works of prose fiction written in English by a citizen of the Commonwealth. The final judging and award ceremony is conducted in different Commonwealth countries each year.

  • Best Book of the Year

The 2006 winner of this award is Kate Grenville for the work ‘Secret River'

  • Best First Book

Mark McWatt is the 2006 winner of the award for the creation Suspended Sentence: Fictions of Atonement

  • Nobel Prize in Literature
    The prize is awarded annually by the International Nobel Committee. The prize recognizes stupendous work in the field of literature as well as other subjects.
  • Man Booker Prize

The prize was first awarded in 1969 to the best complete novel written in English by a citizen of the Commonwealth or the Republic of Ireland. The prize excluded American fiction works. The 2006 winner is Kiran Desai for the work ‘The Inheritance of Loss'

  • Man Booker International Prize

The winner of this award in 2005 was Ismail Kadare for ‘Albania'

  • Betty Trask Award

The award for 2006 went to Nick Laird for ‘Utterly Monkey'

  • Orange Prize for Best Fiction Novel

The 2006 winner is Zadie Smith for the book ‘On Beauty'

  • Orange Award for New Writers

The 2006 award was for the work ‘Disobedience' by Naomi Alderman.

International Book Awards are the best acclamation that authors of different nations can receive.
