Known as a major airline of the U.S.A., United Airlines is a subsidiary of UAL Corporation with corporate offices in Chicago, Illinois and its operations base in nearby Elk Grove Township. MileagePlus Program:
The United Airlines MileagePlus Program is one of the frequent flyer programs offered to the passengers of the United Airlines where members earn miles by flying United Ted, United Express or Star Alliance Airlines and by purchasing products or services through the comprehensive network of more than 100 participating partners at over 10,000 locations. United Mileage Plus, with nearly eight million enrolled members, has been voted the best frequent flyer program by readers of Business Traveler for the past ten year (1996-2006). Members can redeem miles toward award travel. The members are offered the most extensive selection of award travel destinations including over 800 cities in more than 139 countries and miles by flying United, TedSM, United Express or Star Alliance airlines.

Award Miles:
Rules of the MileagePlus Programs:

• Mileage Plus membership and its benefits are offered at the discretion of United Airlines and its affiliated companies (collectively, "United"), and United has the right to terminate the program or to change the program Rules, regulations, benefits, conditions of participation or mileage levels.
• Each member shall be responsible for remaining knowledgeable as to the program rules and the amount of mileage in his or her account. United shall attempt to advise active members of various matters of interest through such means as may be appropriate, such as account summaries, newsletters and its Web site,
• The accumulation of mileage or certificates and the redemption of awards are subject to specific program rules enacted by United Airlines.

Mileage Expiration:
Mileage accrued in a member's account shall be maintained in the account until it is redeemed for an award or until it expires.

Award Redemption:
United Airlines decides on the redemption of awards by counting the miles stored in each account. The United Airlines will serve as the chief deciding factor while deciding on the rules of award redemption. Mileage cannot be earned in two or more different accounts. Travel on MileagePlus award tickets can be subject to various criteria like the amount of tariffs, contracts of carriages and ticket terms can vary for reservations of various tickets. The award structure is subject to modification, cancellation or limitation at United's discretion with or without notice.
Upgrades are not allowed on free accounts, rentals or tickets, industry discounts, consolidation tickets, group rates or special promotional rates.
