Air Tindi began operating on November 1, 1988. The airlines started from its base located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories in Canada.
The word 'tindi' means the Big Lake or the Great Slave Lake. The airlines operates scheduled and charter flights to the remote parts of the region. The year 2006 witnessed the takeover of Air Tindi by Discovery Air Inc.
