The private airlines,
Aeromas, started its operations in the year 1983 in Uruguay. Aeromas is one of the chief airlines providing services in Uruguay and the Mercosur region since its inception. A partnership between Aeromas and Southern Cross Aviation Inc in 1997 led to the formation of MaxAir Sociedad Anonima, an air transport company.
