Ankair was previously referred to as World Focus Airlines and it was forced to close shop in February 2008. It offered chartered services to several cities in Middle East and Europe and its parent company was Dunyaya Bakis Hava Tasimacilign


Ankair History

Ankair was also known as Ankair and operated as a chartered airline. It was established on 27th September 2005 and was named World Focus Airlines. In February 2008 the name Ankair was given to the Turkish airline as part of a corporate makeover.

When the company started operations it had a couple of Airbus A310. The accident involving Atlasjet Flight 4203 played a major role in changing the company’s name. The said accident took place on 30th November 2007. The company lost its certificate for operation in 2008 and this led to its closure in July that year. As per aviation rules in Turkey companies are required to have at least 3 aircraft but Ankair was not up to it.

Ankair was based at Ataturk International Airport and it operated with 2 McDonnell Douglas MD-83s. Its parent company was Dunyaya Bakıs Hava Tasımacılıgı A.S. The Turkish airline was headquartered at Istanbul and operated to locations in Middle East and Europe.
