A part of the Virgin Group, Virgin Express started to function from 1996 and ended its flights in 2006. In its final phase the airline primarily concentrated on budget flights and operated primarily within Europe.
The aviation enterprise entered into a merger with SN Brussels Airlines and created Brussels Airlines that initiated functioning on 25th March 2007.
The company kicked on operations on April 23, 1996 with the purchase of EuroBelgian Airlines or EBA, a leisure airway from Belgium, by Virgin Group. It was renamed Virgin Express. EBA's aircraft were purchased during that deal as well.
