The foundation of the US Airways dates back to the history of the All America Aviation Company. It began as a domestic airline serving Ohio River Valley in the year 1939. As the company grew, so did the fleet and the routes. It was referred to as Allegheny Airlines and then as US Air. In the year 1996, it started operating independently as US Airways after breaking ties with British Airways with which it had an investment settlement. Some of its subsidiary airlines include the Piedmont Airlines, PSA Airlines and US Airways Shuttle.

US Airways is the sixth largest airlines company in the United States of America. Belonging to the US Airways Group Inc, it has its headquarters at Tempe, Arizona. One of the most popular low-cost airlines in the United States, the US Airways has contributed considerably to the aviation industry of the United States of America.

The important hubs of the US Airways are Charlotte, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Philadelphia. Flights are also operated from Washington Reagan National, Pittsburgh, Boston and New York LaGuardia. US Airways has also entered into a partnership with Midwest Airlines based in Kansas City.

US Airways Destinations

Flights are offered by US Airways to over 240 destinations in North America, Central America, Hawaii, Europe and the Caribbean. Around 3,860 flights are operated by the airlines on a daily basis.

As the company shares its airline code with the United Airlines, its services has been extended to the Great Plains, Rocky Mountain states and the Midwest.   • Canadaair Regional Jet (CRJ900) with a capacity of 86 seats
  • Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ700), which has a capacity of 70 seats.
  • deHavilland Dash-8 (300), which has acapacity of 50 seats
  • deHavilland Dash-8 (100 & 200) having a capacity of 37 seats
  • Embraer 170 having a capacity of 72 seats
  • Embraer ERJ 145 having a seat of 50 seats
  • SAAB 340 with 34 seats

    The US Airways use the following aircrafts on their main routes:

  • Airbus 319, with a capacity of 120 -124 seats
  • Airbus 320 having 142- 150 seats
  • Airbus A321 having169 seats
  • Airbus A330 having 288 seats
  • Boeing 737-400 with 144 seats
  • Boeing 757-200 with 190 - 193 seats
  • Boeing 767-200ER with 203 seats
  • Embraer 190 with 99 seats In flight facilities
