Skybus Airlines


With a working model depending hugely on routes that did not have direct flights, Skybus Airlines was shut down in 2008 after opening a year earlier. The company was headquartered in Columbus Ohio.

Skybus Airlines History

Skybus Airlines was incorporated in 2004 and started to function from 22nd May 2007. It closed its flights on 5th April 2008. It was privately held and operated with extremely low charges.

The American aviation company tried to replicate the working patterns of Ryanair, a European airline and looked to provide the least air fares in USA.

Skybus Airlines Details

The major hub of Skybus Airlines was Port Columbus International Airport and Piedmont Triad International Airport was its secondary hubs. It used 13 Airbus A319s to flow its passenger at the time when it closed down.

The American airline operated primarily within United States mainland and offered flights for 17 destinations. Its slogan was "Only Birds Fly Cheaper" and it was based in Columbus. The founder of the company was John Weikle and CFO cum CEO was Mike Hodge.

Charlie Clifton served in the board of managers of Skybus Airlines and its COO and President was Kenneth L Gile.
