Pacific Blue Airlines History

Pacific Blue Airlines was incorporated in 2003 and started operations a year later in January 2004. Its earliest services spanned Brisbane and Christchurch. Its ICAO code was altered in August 2007 following discussions with traffic managers to avoid confusion.

Pacific Blue announced that it was starting domestic services in New Zealand on 21st August that year and said its first domestic flights would kick off on 12th November that year. Auckland, Dunedin, Wellington and Christchurch were the initial destinations.

The Premium Economy seating facilities started in 2010 and on 16th August that year it was stated that the airline would be shifting focus to medium distance and trans-Tasman flights.
