Avolar was perhaps the first-ever low-cost airline operating from Mexico. It was also referred to as Avolar Aerolineas S.A. de C.V. It basically offered flights within Mexico and was based in Tijuana.
Avolar History
Avolar was established in 2005 and folded up in 2008. The company started functioning on 7th September when it had only one Boeing 737-500. Its corporate offices were located in Tijuana.
It is often regarded as the earliest budget airline in Mexico. Its main colors were white and orange that was the brainchild of Benjamin Najar. The company had to close shop on 28th October 2008 when its operations were finally suspended by Secretaria de Comunicaciones y Transportes after similar steps had been taken by the national Ministry of Communications and Transports after 4th August and 3rd October that year. The unlawful operations of the airline were cited as the main reason behind the closure.
