Airberlin was incorporated in 1978 and was named Air Berlin USA at its initial phase. It is now officially called Air Berlin PLC & Co. Luftverkehrs KG. It is the second biggest carrier in Germany following Lufthansa.

Airberlin operates from Berlin Tegel Airport and Dusseldorf International Airport. Its focus city functions are performed from Palma de Mallorca Airport and Nuremberg Airport. The German set up is a part of the Oneworld alliance.
Its slogan is "Your Airline" and its head offices are at Airport Bureau Center in Charlottenburg - Wilmersdorf, Berlin. Joachim Hunold functions as the CEO, Elke Schutt is the CAO, Ulf Huffmeyer is the CFO, Helmut Himmelreich is the CMO, Christoph Debus is the COO and Thomas Ney is the CPO.
Airberlin Booking Services
Passengers can change the dates of their travel till 2 days before their flights. They can also call up Airberlin service centers if they wish to avail the service later than that. The web check in services can be availed within a 30-2 hour range before departure.
The flight vouchers can be gifted to family members, friends, relatives or colleagues during special occasions. The amount can be chosen by the passenger himself and the vouchers are available in personalized versions to make the whole thing even more special for the recipients.
The vouchers can be used at any flight operated by the carrier. Group bookings are allowed for at least 10 people together. Special flights are also provided.

Airberlin has 3 Airbus A330-300s that can accommodate a maximum of 387 passengers and 11 Airbus A330-200s that have maximum capacities of 303 passengers each. The 10 Airbus A321-200s each have space for 210 people at the most.
The 37 Airbus A320-200s can each transport 174 travelers and Airbus 319-112s can carry 150 passengers each. The maximum capacity of each Airbus 319-132 is 144 passengers. In addition to these there are 39 Boeing 737-800s that can carry 186 people each.
The 26 Boeing 737-700s can transport 144 passengers each and the 10 Bombardier Dash 8 Q400s can take a maximum of 76 passengers each.
