Kyrgyzstan Airlines had a 12 year operational span, stretching from 1993 to 2005, before its reins were taken over by Altyn Air. Its hub was at Manas International Airport, and it was fully owned by the government.

The Kyrgyz carrier offered flights to a number of destinations such as Urumqi, Nizhniy Novgorod, Delhi, Novgorod, Bishkek, Novosibirsk, Kazarman, Saint Petersburg, Kerben, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Osh, Dushanbe, Karachi, Istanbul and Moscow. It had a fleet strength of 17 with 5 Antonov An-28s.Its IATA code was R8, ICAO code was KGA and KYRGYZ was its Callsign.

Kyrgyzstan Airlines History

The Asian airline was incorporated in 1992 and it was named Aeroflot Kyrgyzstan Directorate. It had entered into a cooperation deal with Aeroflot during October 1997. Its headquarters were changed to Manas International Airport on January 2, 2002. It was acquired in 2005 by Altyn Air after it became bankrupt. In 2007 it got rebranded as Kyrgyzstan.
