Established in 1996, Armavia Airlines is currently the largest airlines in Armenia. In 2002 it entered into a strategic alliance with S7 airlines of Russia. In 2004 it took over Armenian airlines when the later went bankrupt. However the flights of Armenian airlines flying to Europe were taken over by Armenian International Airways. In 2005 when Armenian International Airways was declared bankrupt Armavia took control of the European flights. Armavia commenced operations with Tel Aviv, Minsk, & Tblisi in 2006.
