Rules regarding Consignments
Consignments must be organized and packed in such a manner so as to guarantee safe passage with normal care and handling.
- Items prone to be impaired by normal handling or due to any effect of flying through air should be safeguarded by meticulous packing and should depict proper labels.
- All consignments that may leak must be packed by the sender in tough, watertight containers or in weighty polyvinyl bags.
- Each item must be clearly labeled with the name and address of the Sender and the Consignee.
- Items that weigh more than what is prescribed as the permissible weight on the available floorspace of the airplane must be loaded with an appropriate base that will disperse the weight of the individual articles so as not to cross the limits of the available aircraft room. The total weight of the consignment must include the weight of the base.
- Cut flowers and Nursery Stock items must display the total cubic measurement on the front of all containers.
- Liquids or dainty or perishable items should not be housed in the same cartons as garments.
- Packaging and tagging of perilous items must conform to the Dangerous Goods Regulations, issued by International Air Transport Association (IATA).
- Weapons must be housed in a manufacturer's breakproof box made solely for the firearms.

- Animals
- Hazardous Materials
United Airlines Cargo’s Rules regarding Minimum Cost Per Shipment
1.These costs are not meant for Small Consignments.
2. If there are no rates depicted from origin to destination, the minimum rate should be approximately USD $45.00/CAD $50.00 per consignment.
3. The lowest rate per consignment traversing in cooperation through United Airlines and other airlines will be:
• USD $45.00 for UA's part of the carriage, along with the charge for each airliner carrying the goods between places within the U.S.A
• USD $22.00 (CAD $30.00) for each airliner carrying the goods between a place in the U.S.A. and a place in Canada
4. However, when a joint minimum rate is declared in combination with a valid joint rate in the Official Joint Rates Tariff of the Airline Tariff Publishing Company, that joint minimum rate stands over any declarations of local least rates.
