MilleMiglia - Alitalia

Alitalia is the national airline of Italy. The airline operates its services to both domestic and international destinations. The airline's hubs are located at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, Rome and Malpensa International Airport, Milan.
The Frequent Flyer Program of Alitalia is Alitalia Mille Miglia.To become a member of the club is very simple and free of charge. A welcome bonus of 2000 miles is also on offer for customers who get themselves registered before December2007.To join the Mille Miglia program, the candidate has to visit an Alitalia office or become a member via internet. A personal code is given to the candidate which is to be coded each time a booking is made.

Miles are the basic units that are calculated by Alitalia MilleMiglia program. Miles are credited on the basis of distance covered or on the minimum number of miles foreseen by the program between the point of departure and to the destination indicated on the ticket. Miles that are earned by different members cannot be credited to the same account. Tickets bought and not used also do not earn miles. Miles can also be earned when one is not flying by using credit cards in hotel chains; car rentals, shopping etc.Miles earned can be redeemed but cannot be converted into money. Miles can be donated to six humanitarian associations supporting underprivileged children, research and countries that are in need of financial assistance.

Award tickets can be requested for flights by Alitalia or partners in the program. After earning requisite number of miles, customers can book a reward ticket for a flight via phone to customer services. There are two Membership programs in Alitalia MilleMiglia program.

• Club Ulisse
  
  Earning of 25000 miles in a calendar year will make one eligible for becoming a member of the Ulisse Club. A bonus of 25% more miles per flight can be earned in this club. There are numerous benefits like priority booking and check-in, 10 kilos excess baggage allowance, preffered seat assignment, use of Alitalia lounges, priority boarding and priority baggage claim for the members of this club.
  
  
• Freccia Alata Club
  
  Members who can earn 50000 miles per calendar year are eligible to become a member of this club. Being a member of this club, one can earn 50% more miles per flight. Apart from the benefits of Ulisse Club, there are other benefits like guaranteed booking up to 24hours prior to departure and 20 kilo excess baggage allowance in Freccia Alata Club.
