Air New Zealand, the international and domestic airline group has a unique frequent flyer program Airpoints which gives the travelers the opportunity to travel more. Their frequent flyer program currency- Airpoint Dollars makes it easier to earn and redeem Airpoint rewards.
The Air New Zealand provides air passenger and cargo transport services within New Zealand, as well as to and from Australia, the South West Pacific, Asia, North America and the United Kingdom.

Earning Airpoint Dollars:
The members can earn Airpoints Dollars on air travel with Air New Zealand (where you can buy any seat for sale on an Air New Zealand ticketed and operated flight), Star Alliance airlines and other airline partners. If they prefer, the members can use the earned Airoint Dollars to rent a car, book a hotel room, or finance card partners.
Spending Airpoint Dollars
There are so many ways to spend the Airpoints Dollars that it becomes difficult for the members to choose one:
- In the air the members can use their Airpoints Dollars to fly with Air New Zealand, Star Alliance airlines and their other airline partners.
- On the ground, they can redeem their Airpoints Dollars for car rental, hotel accommodation, and Koru Club membership. The members can also gift rewards to other people living at the same address as them- even if they're not Airpoints members themselves.
- Payment for holiday packages can only be made with a credit card.
Exclusive Benefits
Complimentary Membership:
- The most frequent flyers are recognized with a range of exclusive benefits when they travel with Air New Zealand or any Star Alliance airline.
- Airpoints membership is complimentary for customers who fly in Business on an international Air New Zealand operated flight (provided they have paid for travel in this class).They will need to include their original ticket (or E-ticket receipt) and boarding pass with an application form when they apply.
Joining Fee:
- For customers who are not eligible for complimentary membership, a joining fee of NZD $50 applies.
- The more the members travel, the more Airpoints Dollars they can earn and the greater their choice of Airpoints rewards
Elite Tier Status:
Air New Zealand’s participation in the Star Alliance network enables the members to achieve an elite tier status which is recognized in 133 countries when traveling on Air New Zealand or any Star Alliance airline. Airpoints Gold Elite and Gold members enjoy the special privileges of Star Alliance Gold status, while Airpoints Silver members receive Star Alliance Silver status.
Airpoints Dollars Expiry:
Airpoints Dollars are valid for 4 to 5 years. Each year, on the member’s anniversary of joining Airpoints, all Airpoints Dollars earned more than four years earlier will expire.
Insurance:
Airpoint members are eligible to earn Airpoints Dollars on their Air New Zealand Holidays Insurance policy.
For every $75, they will earn 1 Airpoints Dollar. If a family policy is issued, only one named person on the policy is entitled to receive Airpoints Dollars. This benefit applies to New Zealand residents only.
