Dukhan is a place in Qatar. This Qatari city is located on the central west coast of Qatar. From Doha, the capital of Qatar, Dukhan is about 84 km distant. After the oil discovery in this Dukhan field, the place became important and gained popularity. Dukhan is a vast field producing petroleum.
This city expands over 80 km of approximate area in Qatar. It was 1939-1940 when the first well of oil was drilled. The first oil export took place in 1949. Around 335,000 barrels of crude oil are produced each day. Dukhan Field has four reservoirs between North and South. Oil reservoirs are Fahahil, Khatiyah and Jaleha or Diyab. There are four main degassing stations where degassing takes place continuously. Both manned and unmanned stations are there.
Dukhan serves the oil and gas industry of Qatar better than any similar field. Located on the central west coast of Qatar is the heart of the onshore oil and gas industry. Hillocks, landscape, crimson sunset specially identified by limestone rock formations and hillocks make the place beautiful.
The people at Dukhan are mostly related with oil and gas industry. This town has a small school and few shops. There are cubs and restaurants for the people to socialize. Entertaining and leisure activities are all there. Driving from Doha to Dukhan requires an hour of journey.
