Ash Shamal is a municipality of Qartar. The municipality is located in the northern part of the country. The capital city of the municipality of Ash Shamal is Madinat ash-Shamal. Ash Shamal is also known by the name of Ash Ahamaliyah. The farthest north point of the Qatari Peninsula is Ras Rakan, which is included in the municipality of Madinat Ash Shamal.
