Qatar, a country located in the Middle East, has its tradition highly influenced by that of the Bedouins. Like other aspects of Qatar culture, Qatar Music is mainly based on the Bedouin poetry, dances and songs. This Middle Eastern country is blessed with its traditional dances performed at Doha. The traditional dance of Qatar is an integral part of the Qatar Music. People of Qatar perform a form of martial dance with the rhythms of Ardah. In this dance form, two rows of dancers perform with music accompanied by aras, which is a large drum having heated leather, cymbals and tambourine.
These are many musical instruments, which are frequently used by the percussionists during performance of the music of Qatar. Rebaba and the famous Arabian flute are other important musical instruments of Qatar Music. They also use a string instrument named oud.
The most popular Music in Qatar in the recent times is Khaliji music, which is mostly played in the traditional style of the Bedouin music. The charm of Bedouin music can be felt in all the areas across the country of Qatar. However, the Bedouin music dominates all the major cities including Doha.
Music can be studied at different institutes situated in Qatar. For instance, the Persian Gulf Folk music is offered as a subject of study in the Qatari Gulf Folklore Center.
