Origin and formation of Qatar Air Force started only after Qatar got its independence from Britain in 1974. Qatar started developing its air force with the help of the UK. In 1974 the Air Wing of the Public Security Forces was recognized as an important air force base of Qatar. This air force base is located at the Doha International Airport and it has plenty of outlets facilitating the movements of the helicopters. This air force base is equipped with air defense radars, hardened air craft shelters and Roland Missile batteries.
The Qatar Air Force is armed with the most modern air-crafts, which can be fruitfully used in fighting even the most aggressive battles. Some of the noted air-crafts of the air force of Qatar are Dassault Mirage 2000-5EDA/DDA. This air-craft is very recently delivered and is efficiently equipped with Magic 2 and MICA air missiles. Then there is the Mirage 2000-5, the most recent model of Mirage 2000 group. This machine is highly capable of attacking both air to air and air to ground firing procedure.
There are the most advanced sensors, control panel, avionics and RDY radar so that it requires little maintenance. The Qatar Air Force consist of Dassault-Breguet-Dornier Alpha Jet is a subsonic fighter plane, which is capable of fighting against any kind of air offensive operations, providing operational conversion training, efficiency in using different weapon configuration, surface operations. Apart from this, there are other air craft vessels like Aerospatiale SA 342 G/L, Wstland Commando Mk 2/3 and Alpha Jet C.
