Qatar politics. The Emir of Qatar has the authority to promulgate new Qatari laws or modify existing Qatari laws as and when required. The Emir may consult the Advisory council before enacting any specific law. The Council of Ministers also participates in this segment of
politics in Qatar. The Advisory council was formed in accordance with the Modified Provisional Constitution. The total number of members of the Advisory Council is 35. The council debates all issues concerning public interest like administrative, political, legal and economic among others. Islamic Sharia rule is followed in Qatar.
The Advisory Council is the crux of
politics of Qatar. It is responsible for addressing the internal affairs of Qatar. It may also draft any proposed legislation for final approval by the Emir. The budgets of big government projects are also determined by the Advisory Council. The Council of Ministers in Qatar politics has 12 ministries. The 12 ministries include the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Finance, Economy and Commerce, Ministry of Communications and Transport and Ministry of Public Health among others.
