The Emir of Qatar is the supreme ruler of Qatar. The leader of Qatar wields total control over both the Executive and Judicial affairs of the government.
The Emir of Qatar is an absolute and inviolable Qatar ruler of all the functions of the government. The present Emir is Sheikh Hamid Bin Khalifa Al Thani. The Emir is the supreme commander of the military forces of Qatar. He is assisted in his duties by the Defense Council of the country. The members of the Defense Council are chosen by the Emir himself. The Emir of Qatar represents the country in all international affairs and events.
The Qatar ruler may perform many functions that are essential to the proper functioning of the Arab state. He may formulate the empirical policy of Qatar with the proper help of his ministerial council. The Emir may formulate and supervise the function of laws in the country. The Qatar ruler may appoint appropriate military personnel and civil servants as and when required. The leader of Qatar is responsible for conferring both military and civilian orders by following the relevant laws. The Emir of Qatar also accredits the various heads of foreign Embassies and Consulates in the country of Qatar.
