The relation between Bahrain Qatar does not highlight much of importance between the two. Bahrain was under British rule for a long time till 1968 when British Government decided to withdraw from the Gulf area.
Bahrain or "The Sacred Land" is in the Arabian Gulf, located between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. It has a gross area of over 700 square kilometers and its main religion is Muslim, the official language being Arabic. The majority of the population lives in the northern Bahrain where its capital city Manama is located. Bahrain is a regular member of United Nations, OPEC, Arab League, Organization of the Islamic Conference and Gulf Cooperation Council.
Initially Bahrain joined the states of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates to form the Federation of Arab Emirates. For a very short period of time the relation between Bahrain Qatar changed for good. But the concept of federation did not last long and the people of Bahrain agitated for complete independence and it was finally in August 1971 that Bahrain declared full independence, signed a new treaty with the United Kingdom. Very soon it became a member of the Arab League and the United Nations.
In 1973 a Constituent Assembly was formed and elections were held to rule the country. Like most other Gulf countries Bahrain's economy is based on oil and natural gas. The relation between Bahrain and Qatar is cordial, both diplomatic and commercial.
