Qatar University has Professor Sheikha Al-Misnad as the 5th president. This university of Qatar was established in the year 1973. Qatar University is the country's one of the biggest and the most important institute of higher education. The six colleges under the University of Qatar are the College of Education, the College of Sharia and Islamic Institutes, the College of Arts and Science, the College of Law, the College of Business and Economics and the College of Engineering.
Various programs related to close working links with business, industry and other professions are also offered at the Qatar University so that from the very beginning the students get a taste of the working environment. The carefully designed core curriculum emphasizes on a solid base of knowledge of general skills so that the students can later cater to the needs of the Qatari society as well as the labor market.
Qatar University offers its students an audio library, an e-library, state-of-the-art internet facilities, a library, an educational-technology center along with the advanced video-conferencing facilities. Qatar University library serves University students, faculty, staff, and researchers, as well as patrons from the general public. The university also has active office members to take care of the official matters. Qatar University has more than 27,000 graduates, a faculty strength of 700 members apart from the members in the Union of Arab Universities, the International Association of Universities and the league of Islamic Universities.
