Georgetown Qatar is better known as the Georgetown University of Foreign Service Qatar (SFS-Qatar). Georgetown University was opened in 2005 in the Education city of Qatar along with four other US Universities. This institution is helped by the Qatar Foundation in case of funding. Georgetown University, along with the Washington-based embassies from the nations of the region, Jesuit and Catholic leaders, business leaders and other academic institutions suggested an opening of Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in Qatar in 2002 which will retain its quality education system and its Catholic-Jesuit identity.
