Tatra Mountains


Tatra Mountains is probably one of the most attractive tourist destinations of Poland. Throughout the year a load of tourists across the world seen to visit this place. Those who love hiking and mountaineering should definitely not miss out to visit this hilly area as it is the only one that can satisfy the thirst of the romantic soul.

Tatra Mountains comprises a mountain range that constitutes a natural border between Slovakia and Poland. This hilly area occupies an area of 750km˛, the majority of which lies in Slovakia. The highest of this mountain range is Tatra peak (2655m). It is in Slovakia, whereas Rysy(2499m), is the highest peak in Poland.

It is said that Tatra Mountains are the highest hill in the Carpathian Mountains. It have an alpine landscape. In spite of its height the high accessibility of the mountain range has made them popular with travelers and scientists.

This mountainous territory is also popular as an winter sports area, with few resorts including Poprad and the town,Mesto.

The Tatras constitutes of the Eastern Tatrasand the Western Tatras. The Eastern Tatras, in turn, comprises of the Belianske Tatras and the High Tatras. The High Tatras, again with their 24 (approximate) peaks more than 2500m above sea level, are, together with the Southern Carpathians, considered to be the only mountain ranges with an Alpine character.

The Tatra Mountains are thought to have undergone four glaciations. The Mountains have also a wide variety of plants that has also made it appear attractive among of the tourists.
