Nazca Desert Peru

Nazca Peru refer to the geoglyphs series in the Nazca Desert. The Nazca culture created these lines between 200 BC and 700 AD. There are a number of individual figures. Some of then are quite simple while others are complex. Pictures of stylized hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys and lizards can be found.

Except from the air they are not identified as coherent figures. There are speculation on the creator's ability since they were not able to see the lines from such height. Nazca Peru were created by fusing the iron oxide coated pebbles which were to be found on the Nazca desert. After the removal of the gravel the contrast with the light-colored earth underneath is visible.

Other than the human and animal figures some geometric patterns can be noticed among the Nazca Line of Peru. The lines are spread in around 500 sq km area. The largest figure is 900 ft long. Since the area is extremely dry it has helped the lines to persist. Moreover lack of wind has made it uncovered even after such a long period of time.

Several theories try to explain how these Nazca Line in Peru were made. But it is agreed by all of the teams that th technique the Nazca people used were simple and the equipments were also easily accessible. However the motivation behind making these lines remained undiscovered though according to some people they could have a religious motivation since worshiping mountains and other water sources were practiced. But the meaning of many of the lines are unresolved.
