The Peruvian people were influenced by the simplicity of the event related to the advent of Christ. That is why this religious festival was adopted by the Peruvians very easily. Later in different provinces of Peru, local festive charms and senses were added to this festival. As a result, Peru Christmas has assumed a different character of its own.
In Peru, specially in the Andean regions, Christmas has acquired its own distinctive nature that differentiates it from the festival of Christmas else where. People here take great care regarding the celebration of Christmas. Many idols are made and sold in Peru at this time featuring the Nativity event. The Nativity scenes are reproduced using idols in both churches and at home. Moreover, a number of handicrafts are also sold during these festivals. Peruvians celebrate Christmas by enacting in religious play and dances also. Special cuisines are another aspect that add taste to this religious festival in Peru. In Andean regions, Peru Christmas is continued till 6th of January which is marked by another religious festival, which is the arrival of three wise men.
