Peru History



Peru is a country in the western region of South America. It has a rich history or various civilizations, cultures and traditions. Peru has been the home and the center of many great and dominant Andean civilizations. Most notable among these is the Inca civilization, which is one of the most prestigious civilizations of all times.

The history of Peru was largely dominated by the Inca civilization and Spanish rule. The glorious period of the Inca rule culminated in the year 1533, when the Spanish Conquistadors, led by the notorious Francisco Pizarro.

The Spanish occupation lasted for centuries until, in 1821, Peru finally achieved its independence. Even after independence, there were many wars, revolutions and much violence. Over time, Peru has established itself as a democracy, and currently has a fairly stable government, and an emerging and developing economy.
